Story of domestic abuse.

Lisa gasped, there was blood everywhere, she struggled for breath as the reailty of what had just happened hit her. The knife, the blood, bile rose in her throat, the dizzyness taking over. Life hadn't always been like this.

Simon was a lawyer, tall, good looking but didn't he know it! women fell at his feet, hung on every word. Arrogant was what Lisa thought the first time she had met him. Stuiped women, he wasn't all that. Blonde haired, blue eyed good looking? but what he really had going for him was he was the bosses son. On her first day in the office he introduced himself, by the end of the day Lisa had become one of stupid women she despised. The following morning she found herself putting on make-up and doing her hair in hope of bumping into him. The feeling in her stomach when he didn't turn up surprised even her.

Everyday trying to get noticed through the army of women who swarmed round him was to much like hard work. " Sod it" Lisa thought " Never gonna happen" That was until the firm won a landmark case, and the boss took everyone out. Champagne flowing, everything changed, as he lent in to kiss her, the rest was history.

Three years later they married in spectacular style at the poshest manor house in the country. Lisa had never seen such wealth. They moved into a beautiful eight bedroom house not long after. Lisa became a woman of leisure, beauty salon, gym, shopping about summed up most days for her now. That's when it all started. The first time it happens you never forget.

The punch came out of the blue. No warning, no time to run. A silly row about how much money she had spent on a handbag had resulted in a black eye and thick lip. Oh the promise that this would never happen again, the apologies all meaningless because it did happen again and again. The sense of shame and not being able to talk to anyone about what was happening was killing her. No one would believe such a thing.

The beatings continued for years. The injury's became more sever. Lying to family and friends. "I walked in to a door" "I slipped down the stairs" all classic lines and lies. "When will this ever stop?" Lisa thought. If only people knew the truth. Walking on eggshells became a daily routine. Trying to be positive that today things might change. To the world a lovely young couple who had so much going for them. But behind closed doors the monster lived.

Lisa let out a scream, she hadn't meant to stab Simon, just like she didn't mean to punch him that very first time she had lost her temper over a handbag. Or the time he arrived late home from work or any other time for that matter. As Simon slipped away she knew somehow people were going to believe her now.
